eema Confirms Programme Details For The European e-Identity Conference 2008
eema’s 21st Annual Conference, 10th – 11th June 2008, Museum Of Communications, The Hague, Netherlands
eema, the Independent European e-Identity & Security Association, today confirmed the programme, partners and speakers for The European e-Identity Conference 2008 – eema’s 21st Annual Conference. Cross-border interoperability will form the primary focus for the conference, presenting delegates and industry experts with the opportunity to debate and discuss in-depth the four key issues of policy, legal, operations and technology.
The European e-Identity Conference, which this year takes place at The Hague in The Netherlands, aims to tackle the issues surrounding electronic identities as a core enabler of today’s personal, business and government processes. Delegates from European governments, academic institutions and technology experts will unite to debate and share best practice, via four partner session tracks across two days, including presentations, panel discussions, round table sessions and accompanying workshops.
On 10th June eema will present a series of sessions concentrating on the cross-border interoperability of European e-Identity schemes and proposals. Executive Director of eema, Roger Dean comments, “To date, little recognition and authentication of e-Identities across the EU is in place, meaning that there are no clear definitions of how businesses, citizens and government employees can use their identities in other Member States. To enable the free-flow of goods, services and people this must be addressed in-depth, with particular focus on the enabling factors of policy, legal, operations and technology.”
eema’s track is completed by session contributions from members including Visa, Deloitte, Novell, Siemens, eb2b.com, Cyber-Ark and Grabowsky.
Joining eema will be the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) and the platform for eNetherlands and e-Identity forum, ECP.NL, as well as The Municipality of The Hague, who will be hosting session tracks. ECP.NL’s track will take place on 10th June, with a focus on authentication.
Director of ECP.NL and session host, Arie van Bellen comments, “Identity management is an important issue for the information society. As a facilitator of the Dutch National IDM Authentication Platform, ECP.NL is closely involved with identity management in The Netherlands. Our track will feature speakers from industry, government and science in The Netherlands, to present the latest developments in managing identities and authentication.”
ENISA will be running a ‘Next Generation Electronic Identity’ workshop on 11th June. The workshop is dedicated to information gathering to identify emerging security and privacy risks related to e-Identity within the areas of mobile devices, virtual worlds, online gaming and Web 2.0.
Welcome addresses and keynotes will come from the Director Human Resources (Organisation and Information) at Municipality of The Hague, Petra Delsing; Chair of ECP.NL, Roger van Boxtel; Head of ICT at the International Criminal Court, The Hague, Ian Blacker and Global Head of Channel Management/Products of ING Payments & Cash Management, Herco le Fevre.
Executive Director of eema, Roger Dean, comments, “This conference is an essential date for those in business, public sector and government who are involved in any aspect of e-Identity, from policy and security to systems and processes. We’ve lined up over 30 individual sessions led by industry experts to address each aspect in the context of the employee, citizen and private identity to identify current issues, best practice solutions as well as emerging opportunities and threats, such as social networking and mobile.”
Event sponsors and exhibitors include BlackBerry, Corestreet, Cyber-Ark Software, ING, Grabowsky, Marqit and Novell.
