Inkberrow, UK, 12th May 2009 - STORK, a pilot scheme co-funded by the EU that aims to implement EU-wide interoperability of electronic identities (eIDs), today announced that on Friday 26th June 2009 it will host the second Industry Group meeting. The meeting aims to create further collaboration between stakeholders. The group will convene at the eema organised European e-Identity Management Conference in London, UK.
Launched in 2008, STORK (Secure idenTity acrOss boRders linKed) is a three-year pan-European project working towards an EU-wide goal that will empower businesses, citizens and government employees to use their national electronic identities in any member state. The STORK Industry Group comprises stakeholders from small, medium and large companies and associations in the ICT sector that manufacture, supply and consult on infrastructure and end user related products for eID.
STORK Dissemination leader, Vasilis Koulolias states: “The mandate of STORK is to explore an implementation of a pan-European eID interoperability system that meets recognised international standards and is built on stable technologies. The Industry Group and this meeting are therefore pivotal in promoting collaboration, consensus and action between eIDM solutions vendors.”
The objective of the Industry Group is to create an open forum that actively contributes to the development of trust amongst public administrations across the 13 EU member states (Austria, Belgium, Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, the UK) and Iceland as EEA member who are involved in the STORK project, for the mutual acceptance of each other’s identification and authentication methods, thus ensuring that the European eIDM agenda can be significantly advanced towards the i2010 objectives.
The first STORK Industry Group meeting was held in Madrid, Spain, during the ISSE (Information Security Solutions Europe) conference in October 2008. The second STORK Industry Group meeting takes place on Friday 26th June 2009, 15.30 – 17.30 at Park Plaza Victoria Hotel,
