Sunday Telegraph Special Report - Green ICT

Lyonsdown are very pleased to announce they will once again be producing a Green ICT report for distribution in The Sunday Telegraph on October 24th 2011. This report will explain green ICT for c-suite and board-level director in easy-to-digest, plain English. The report will cut through technical issues and get to the core of what a chief executive needs to know: How much money can be saved and how will it improve business performance? The report is geared to ensure senior executives ask their ICT departments the right questions, putting green ICT firmly on the agenda when strategic decisions are made. It will highlighting some of the pressures organisations are under from various parties to cut costs, drive efficiency and maximise shareholder value. We show that through using smart systems and employing green ICT practices, it is possible to achieve these goals.

Discussion topics:

  • Data Centre Optimisation – Cooling, power management and construction
  • Greening the IT Department – Simple steps to reduce power consumption and carbon emissions
  • Using IT to Green the organisation – Using IT to make other processes greener
  • Understanding and reporting – Measuring green ICT success
  • Bottom-line benefits – How much will we really save?

If you are interested in finding out more about the report and the different ways to get involved as a sponsor, advertiser or content provider, please contact Jonathan Baer on +44 (0)208 349 6457 or jonathan@lyonsdown.co.uk as soon as possible.

ICT and CO2
ICT equipment may play a potentially significant role in reducing carbon dioxide emissions among private and public sector user organisations. It was estimated in 2008¹, for example, that the enabling potential of ICT could lead to ‘other sector’ CO2 emissions reductions of 7.8GtCO2 in 2020 – this being five times the size of the industry’s own carbon footprint.
