IT Futures 2006 was chaired by Colin Whitehouse, Senior Advisor for the Department of Communities & Local Government and comprised an intensive programme of inspirational keynotes, interactive streams on specific themes and focused debates - plus a special IT Leaders' lunch and post-event reception.

With an overall theme of "Risk VS Innovation", the programme included an inspiring opening session from Stephen Attenborough, the new Head of Astronaut Relations at Virgin Galactic, on Managing risk on board the world's first commercial passenger space flights; a special lunchtime session from Trevor Baylis, inventor & entrepreneur, looking at why UK corporates need to innovate to survive; and a closing thought provoking session from world-renowned author and business thinker, Robert Heller on how to practice safe creative thinking in the 21st Century.

Other workshop sessions focused on key areas such as:

  • Leading Transformation with Flexible Working
  • SOA and Composite Applications: The Importance of Identity, Interoperability and Governance
  • Process Centric vs. Package Centric – which way forward? 
  • Change Management In and Beyond IT
  • IT Governance: Getting a return from Software Asset Management and its new ISO standard
