NePP National e-Procurement Conference & Exhibition

6th – 7th December 2006
Russell Hotel, London

Client:
The National e-Procurement Project (NePP)

Objective:
The objective of the NePP Conference was to encourage the widespread adoption of e-procurement within all English Local Authorities by sharing research and best practice within the local government community.

Our Brief:
Following the first two successful NePP conferences - “The Proof” - (also organized by Revolution Events) Revolution Events were awarded the contract to organize the third NePP National Conference in December 2006. The brief was to attract around 150 senior purchasing, finance and IT executives, as well as selling exhibitor & sponsor packages to leading e-Procurement suppliers.

The challenge was not only to attract the senior delegates but also to ensure they went away from the conference with a real desire, and the relevant tools, to effect change in their home authorities and implement sustainable and workable e-procurement systems that deliver real savings and greater efficiencies.

Financially the brief was to run a self-funding event with all the costs covered by the exhibitor & delegate revenues.

Results:
The conference was a huge success, providing two information packed days with an intensive programme of keynote sessions, best practice seminars, issue-based workshops and a wide range of real-life case studies together with a structured networking environment and exhibition areas. The event attracted over 200 senior delegates and 25 exhibitors over two days.

Delegates included Heads of Procurement, Finance and IT, Department Heads, LA Officers, Elected Members and over 20 Chief Executives (who attended a special conference 'track' and Chief Executives Evening Reception). Paying sponsors/exhibitors included Oracle, BT, Vantage and @UK Plc plus support and speakers from the National Centres of Excellence, IDEA, SOPO, OGC, Direct Gov, CIPS and The Municipal Journal.

An impressive 92% of delegates rated the conference ‘Good’ or ‘Excellent’ in terms of content and organisation. Exhibitors had an excellent event and reported high levels of interest in the products on offer. So, for all event stakeholders it was a great success.

The event generated over £150,000 of revenue and was not only self-funding, but also returned a small surplus to the NePP. For this event, REL provide a turnkey conference, sales and event management service; with full responsibility for every aspect of the event from venue search & selection, programme content, exhibitor sales, delegate marketing, delegate registration, logistics and post-event feedback.
